10 Activities to Keep Your Kids Busy During Spring Break

It's Spring Break, the kids are out of school, and you have to get creative to combat the inevitable boredom they're bound to exclaim if you don't keep them busy. Here's a list of things to do around town that will keep the kids active and entertained.

1. Play Miniature Golf

Kids of all ages enjoy playing miniature golf. Find a course that offers different levels of difficulty so every age group will be challenged. Or find locations that offer something extra like glow-in-the-dark courses or themed holes to give you some variety.

2. Visit a Local Park Each Day

Make it a goal to visit a different park each day. Try different locations around town or those you've never visited before. If there's a park within walking distance, make an adventure of it by packing a picnic and walking to the park.

3. Go to Never-Before-Visited Places

Ask local moms' groups for suggestions on unique places to visit or things to do in the city. Some ideas include attending presentations at a local Nature Center, taking the kids to explore an outdoor classroom, or visiting a local tree farm to learn how trees are planted and the life cycle of trees.

4. Go to the Zoo

The zoo is a great option for kids of all ages. Get there early to watch the zoo keepers bring the animals out or stay late to watch the animals go home for the night (kangaroos are interesting to watch). Visit interactive exhibits and attend presentations, so the kids gain more knowledge about the animals that live at the zoo.

5. Have a Picnic

Bring back this old-fashioned family favorite. Lunch doesn't have to be fancy; a sandwich, chips, and a drink each will do. And you don't need anything else but a blanket or two large enough to sit on and spread out your goodies. Take advantage of the awesome weather and bring a book to read and stay awhile.

6. Go Roller Skating

Roller skating will offer hours of entertainment for the kids. Make sure to dress the kids in white so they can shine under the black lights. And if they don't know how to skate, no problem; just grab a roller skate trainer until they're confident enough to strike out on their own.

7. Go on a Hike

Put on sturdy shoes and explore some trails close to you. It doesn't matter whether you live in the city or country, there are plenty of trails to explore. Add some creativity with a scavenger hunt to complete on the trails to help the kids take note of and interact with nature.

8. Rainy-Day Crafts

Spring is notorious for being rainy, so plan some indoor activities for the kiddos in case it's too wet to go outside. Set aside some spring crafts for them to do that will keep them busy and encourage their creativity.

9. Build LEGOs

Another rainy-day activity is to build with LEGOs. There are many resources online that have LEGO plans to help you create from any existing pieces you may already have. Or see how creative the kids can get and watch them build from their imagination.

10. Educational Movies

And if the rain still persists and you've run out of craft supplies and LEGO pieces, there are educational movies the kids can watch to learn more about the world around them. Topics vary from documentaries to biographies to geographies, to name a few.
